The Way Forward for Indian Women’s Golf
Indian women’s golf continues to make impressive strides, with the Hero Women’s Golf Tour providing an increasingly strong platform for the country's leading professionals and emerging stars. The recent performances of Indian golfers on both the international and domestic circuits reflect the growing depth of talent and the promising future of the sport.
On the international stage, Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs, both products of the Hero Women’s Golf Tour, have continued to showcase their potential on the Ladies European Tour. Diksha delivered an outstanding performance by finishing among the top sixteen at the Scottish Open, while Pranavi narrowly missed qualification for the 2026 AIG Women’s British Open. Although Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar were unfortunate to miss the cut at the AIG Women’s British Open by a single stroke, their consistent participation against world-class fields provides invaluable experience. With the Asian Games on the horizon, India's leading trio continue to build confidence and sharpen their competitive edge for the challenges ahead.
Back home, the Hero Women’s Golf Tour's Southern Swing at Clover Greens, Hosur, and Zion Hills, Kolar, attracted record participation, with more than 45 professionals competing across two challenging venues. The picturesque Clover Greens witnessed a commanding victory by Vani Kapoor, who finished three strokes ahead of Amandeep Drall and Annvi Dahhiya. The tournament also produced memorable highlights, including 10 eagles and a spectacular hole-in-one by Jahaanvie Walia during the final round.
Zion Hills produced another exciting finishes of the season as Vidharti Urs secured her first win of season after a dramatic playoff against Riddhima Dilawari. The breakthrough victory marks an important milestone in the young Mysuru golfer's career and earns her an exemption into the 2026 Hero Women's Indian Open at DLF Golf & Country Club, offering another opportunity to compete alongside international stars.
The month's celebrations extended beyond tournament golf with the successful CKC Gold Legacy Pro-Am, which attracted 120 participants. Sponsored by the CKC Group, the event combined competitive golf with meaningful philanthropy. A jewellery auction held during the tournament saw half of the proceeds donated to the families of caddies, highlighting golf's growing commitment to social responsibility.
Equally encouraging is the progress being made by the AM IGPL, which has expanded across more than ten venues nationwide. The league has created an inclusive platform by removing gender barriers while also promoting disability golf, providing talented young athletes with opportunities to pursue their sporting ambitions, including dreams of competing at the Paralympics.
Across India, world-class golf academies and modern driving ranges are emerging in metropolitan centres as well as Tier II and Tier III cities. This growing infrastructure is encouraging greater participation among young players and reinforcing golf's reputation as a sport that promotes both physical fitness and mental well-being. With more leagues, Pro-Ams and development initiatives scheduled in the coming months, Indian women's golf continues its remarkable upward journey, undeterred even by the monsoon season. The future of Indian golf has never looked brighter.
