Dagar and Bakshi Shine with Top-10 Finishes in Australia

Gold Coast, Australia, March 22: India’s rising golf talents Diksha Dagar and Hitaashee Bakshi delivered impressive performances at the Australian Women’s PGA Championship in Gold Coast, securing places among the top 10.

Diksha Dagar emerged as the best-performing Indian, finishing tied for seventh with an overall score of 8-under par. She recorded a final round of 1-over 72, overcoming an inconsistent start. After an early bogey on the first hole, she bounced back with a birdie on the fourth. Despite dropping shots on multiple holes in the front nine, Dagar showed resilience with crucial birdies on the 17th and 18th, sealing her place in the top 10. This marks her second top-10 finish in just five events this season.

Hitaashee Bakshi also put up a strong showing, ending tied for ninth at 7-under par. Her final round of 2-over 73 began on a challenging note with a double bogey on the second hole, followed by additional bogeys. However, she fought back with birdies on the sixth, 11th, 15th, and 16th holes to limit the damage. This result is a positive turnaround for Bakshi, ending a streak of missed cuts this season.

Australia’s Hannah Green dominated the tournament, continuing her remarkable form by clinching her third title of the 2026 season and her second LET victory. She finished at 16-under par, four shots ahead of her closest competitors, Casandra Alexander and Alexandra Försterling. Green’s final round of 2-under 69 featured early birdies and a strong finish, underlining her consistency.

Among other Indian players, Pranavi Urs finished tied for 48th with a total score of 4-over par. She saved her best for the final round, carding a 2-under 69 with multiple birdies, despite a late double bogey affecting her overall score. Urs has now made the cut in three of her five events this season, with her best result being a tied-14 finish at the Australian Women’s Classic earlier.

Meanwhile, Shannon Tan, the 2025 LET Order of Merit winner, concluded the tournament in tied 17th place at 5-under par.

Overall, the tournament highlighted strong performances from Indian golfers, with Dagar and Bakshi demonstrating skill, determination, and the ability to compete at the highest level.
