November 2025 – Glory for WGAI Players
After a hectic October for the Indian golf fraternity, WGAI player Diksha Dagar brought much-awaited glory to the country and to women’s golf by winning a gold medal at the Deaflympics. Diksha’s unmatched achievement of being the only player in the world to compete twice in the Olympics and thrice in the Deaflympics is truly remarkable. Supported by a dedicated family and driven by her own unwavering spirit, Diksha has risen to become a player whose accomplishments will be hard to surpass. Four Indian players are also participating in the year-end European Tour Championship in Spain as the 2026 season concludes.
The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour began November at Jaipur’s Rambagh Golf Course. Vani Kapoor delivered a spectacular hat-trick of 68s, securing her fifth win of 2025 on the Tour. Jasmine Sekhar, who posted three under-par rounds, narrowly missed the title by a single shot. The final leg of the Tour at Wishtown Jaypee Greens, a debut venue, witnessed a breakthrough victory for Mahreen Bhatia, an amateur who showcased exceptional talent. She clinched the title with a three-stroke lead over an in-form Vani Kapoor. Her win reflects the growing strength of India’s emerging young golfers. A Playing Ability Test (PAT) conducted at the same venue saw 19 promising players participate, out of which ten qualified for the 2026 Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour.
Vani Kapoor secured the Hero Order of Merit top spot for 2026, capping a remarkable season in which she balanced commitments between the Ladies European Tour and her home tour.
The dynamic Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) made headlines when, for the first time, a female player donned “The Jacket.” Pranavi Urs delivered a flawless eight-under-par final round to win the Bombay Presidency Golf Club IGPL leg, creating history and setting a new benchmark for aspiring female golfers. With IGPL opening its doors to the top six players from the Hero Women’s Order of Merit, the path toward equal opportunity — and eventually equal pay — is becoming more realistic. The BPGC IGPL event was a moment of pride for India’s female golfing community.
Internationally, Thailand’s Jeeno Titikul defended her title at the CME Championship, ascending to World No. 1 on the LPGA Order of Merit. Players from the Asia-Pacific region continue to dominate the LPGA, with the exception of the USA’s Nelly Korda.
The season concluded with the Ladies European Tour event in the last week of November, featuring a €700,000 purse and five Indian players in a 75-player field — the final global event of 2025.
As the countdown to 2026 begins, golf’s popularity continues to surge across India and the region. With India set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, speculation remains on whether golf will be included.
